The Defenders of Wildlife is a national membership organisation which focuses their attention to protecting and sustaining wild animals and plants. On their website they outline the strategy they use: “Defenders of Wildlife works on the ground, in the courts, and on Capitol Hill to protect and restore imperiled wildlife and habitats across North America. Together, we can ensure a future for the wildlife and wild places we all love.”
So, apart from their outstanding pitch, why do we support Defenders of Wildlife? Firstly they are a non profit organisation. This means that their sole purpose is to make the world a better place. So many charities right now have the objective of gaining money, if you really want to make a difference you must forget about taking a profit.
Unlike many charities who promise to make a difference but don’t, Defenders of Wildlife take action. A few of their achievements include over 100 collaborations to prevent conflicts with grizzly bears and wolves in the West, also they removed 90% of old-growth habitat from a proposed timber sale in Tongass National Forest.
